Connie started working at Kern Funeral Home with her father, LeRoy A. Anderson in 1989. She is now the owner and President of Kern Funeral Home and Mount Vernon Cemetery. She is dedicated to taking care of families that the Kern Funeral Home serves. Connie and her husband John, have three grown children and four grandchildren. They live near La Conner, WA. What she loves most is spending time with her grandchildren and family. Another past time that she enjoys is volunteering, spending time in her rose and vegetable gardens.

She is a member of Al-Anon and Vasa.

Jeremiah T. LeSourd Funeral Director and Embalmer Jeremiah@kernfuneralhome.com

Jeremiah T. LeSourd is the third generation to join the family business. He has been at Kern Funeral Home since June of 2000. He was born and raised in Skagit County and graduated from La Conner High School prior to attending mortuary college. He has completed his Associate of Arts Degree in applied Science and Funeral Service Education at Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon. Jeremiah recently obtained his funeral directors license and embalming certification. Jeremiah is an avid baseball fan and has been actively involved locally, coaching Junior Legion baseball.

Daniel LaPlaunt is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer who came to Northwest Washington to join Kern Funeral Home in February of 2019.  Daniel is proud of 20 years of serving families, as well as having supported the funeral directing community through sponsoring several internships over the years.  He is a past member of the Washington State Funeral Directors Associations' Board of Directors.  Daniels' interests include learning about local history and campaigning for historic preservation.

David Lukov has been serving in the funeral and cemetery profession for many years, and joined the staff of Kern Funeral Home in March 2019.  His position at Kern is to help people plan ahead (advance planning) for funeral and cemetery decisions, serve as a funeral director, provide aftercare and grief support to families and serves when called upon, as an officiant.   David is a graduate of Shorecrest High School (Shoreline), Whitworth University (Spokane) and Princeton Theological Seminary (Princeton, NJ).  He has been a pastor, a Hospice Bereavement Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and Chaplain, and an adjunct college instructor.

Sara Perry has been a member of Kern Funeral Home, as well as the deathcare industry since 2021. She is a fully-licensed Funeral Director and she’s currently attending LW Tech to complete her Embalming certification.  Prior to this work Sara was an Elementary Special Education Teacher and while working with students was her passion, other needs prioritized themselves and she found herself able to help families in a whole new way. Sara works closely with the Grief Support Program at Kern as well as assisting with the Perinatal Garden. Outside of work, she can be found reading, enjoying time with her pets and her husband or making jewelry out of found objects from thrift stores.

Gene Morales is an experienced embalmer and funeral director who joined Kern Funeral Home in 2023. He has managed all aspects of prep room operations and served families from many religious and cultural backgrounds. Gene is excited to help professional death care evolve with emerging practices while drawing upon ancient traditions that express our humanity. A Bellingham resident, Gene is passionate about cooking new recipes for his family, hiking throughout the PNW, and enjoying a diverse assortment of films and music.
